NFC South Futures Betting Guide

NFC south futures betting guide Kyle Pitts

By Sean Fox

Sports bettors aren’t buying that the Super Bowl representative from the NFC is coming out of the South

The Buccaneers, who finished last season with a 9-8 record, are the defending division champions. The Saints also finished 9-8 but lost the division tiebreaker and a playoff spot to Tampa Bay.

This year, the Atlanta Falcons are the favorites, while the rebuilding Carolina Panthers look to improve upon their 2-15 debacle.

Let’s take a look at my pick to win the division with this NFC South futures betting guide.

Atlanta Falcons: Dirty Birds Flying High

Atlanta won seven games last year with a quarterback (Desmond Ridder) that was one of the biggest over-reaches in NFL Draft history. They also had a middling defense that finished last season with a middling scoring defense

This year, the Falcons start veteran Quarterback, Kirk Cousins. While Cousins isn’t a superstar, he arguably becomes the best QB in the division and to ask Atlanta to win three more games than last year is a reasonable ask.

Atlanta’s offense features the immensely talented, Bijan Robinson. Last year as a rookie sensation, the multi dimensional running back ran for 976 yards on 214 carries. Add in QB Kirk Cousins and teams will not be able to stack the box like they did last year so I expect bigger and better things for him and similar number of carries.

Other notable offensive weapons include Tight End Kyle Pitts, who should drive defenses nuts if he actually gets the ball thrown to him this year (good riddance Arthur Smith) and former 1st round pick Drake London is in a make or break year. I think he gets past his receiving yards prop.

Chicago Bears cast-off  Darnell Mooney looks to carve out a role while Ray Ray Mcloud comes over from San Francisco hoping for an expanding role.

With six games against one of the weakest divisions in football, their floor in the division should be a 3-3 record, but don’t rule out a 4-2 finish in the NFC South.

I see eight winnable games (Steelers, Seahawks, Broncos, Chargers, Vikings, Raiders, Giants, and Commanders). Most of their easier games are the back half of their schedule so if you want to wait till after week 3 when they should be 1-2, you should get a 8.5 wins total.

Best Bets:

Falcons over 9.5 wins – (you can play this live after week 3 for over 8.5 wins)

Bijan Robinson rushing yards over 975.5 -115

Drake London over 1025.5 receiving yards -120
