Cincinnati Bengals: Desperation
The Cincinnati Bengals have been awful in the first two games of the year under head coach Zac Taylor and quarterback Joe Burrow. The two are combined 1-11 in the first two weeks of the season during this tenure.
However, they do seem to get things together as the season goes on. But Bengals fans wish that they would not treat this time of the year like preseason and dig themselves into a hole once again.
The Bengals offense should have a big day against the worst secondary in the league, the Washington Commanders.
Washington is giving up a 69% completion rate, which ranks in the bottom third of the league. They’ve had problems covering receivers and Joe Burrow and his cast of weapons will look to take advantage of this tonight.
Washington Commanders: Run The Damn Ball
The Commanders and QB Jayden Daniels head into Cincinnati looking to build off their divisional win over the Giants last week. The Commanders offense stalled in the red zone, but they were able to put up seven field goals to beat the Giants.
They’ll need to land in the end zone if they’re going to keep pace with the high-powered Cincinnati Bengals.
The Commanders will look to run the ball tonight against a depleted Cincinnati defensive line. Brian Robinson is averaging 6 yards per carry, and Jayden Daniels is always a threat with his legs.
The Commanders are going to limit the number of times that Daniels drops back and lean on a heavy dose of Robinson tonight in order to control the time of possession.
Key to the Game
If Washington is going to keep this close, they’re going to need to score early and run the ball. They can’t afford to fall down by two possessions and be forced to rely on the passing game. Washington will need to be balanced, especially against Cincinnati.
If they’re able to block well at the beginning of the game and rush the ball it, should be an exciting game and an easy cover. If the Bengals are able to shut down the Commanders’ rushing attack, they should run away with this game.
Best Bet
While we’re waiting for Cincinnati to wake up, I’ll take the points against this team that has yet to get going. Now, the Cincinnati defensive line has been depleted with multiple injuries. I do not think they’re going to be able to stop the Commanders rushing attack.
Washington should keep the game close, with the Commanders leaning on the run and not having to drop Jayden Daniels back too often. Take the Washington Commanders.
