Monday Night Football Sports Betting Play – New York Jets @ San Fransisco 49ers

The Line: Niners -4

The Total: 43.5

Two teams with high expectations face off on Monday Night Football for our free sports betting play of the day. It’s the San Francisco 49ers hosting the New York Jets!

San Francisco 49ers

Coming off a close Super Bowl loss, the San Francisco 49ers had a tumultuous offseason. In the end, everything worked out well as they were able to get WR Brandon Aiyuk and  LT Trent Williams signed. However, will both key players missing training camp affect the continuity of the 49ers?

I’m not as worried about these two key players missing training camp time. Trent Williams can fill in right away and already has adequate chemistry with his fellow offensive lineman. Aiyuk knows the routes he wants to run. Even if he gets less work than usual, the 49ers have plenty of weapons to ease Aiyuk back into the system. All the players are familiar with the system and this seemed to be more about them resting and taking training camp off than a serious hit to the 49ers overwhelming offensive capacity.

New York Jets

The Jets knew they were a quarterback away two seasons ago and they added Aaron Rodgers into the fold. Rodgers lasted four plays last season. Without him, the Jets were still able to win seven wins behind the strength of a dominant defense and excellent skill position players. Now the Jets get Aaron Rodgers back, and have a second opportunity to implement the plan they formed last season.

Opinions on Rodgers are mixed. Rodgers was already starting to decline when he left Green Bay, but he’s still one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. Even in a diminished capacity, Rodgers is much better than the quarterback play that they fielded last season. If Rodgers can be an above average quarterback or even a top 10 quarterback, the Jets have a serious opportunity to be true contenders to win the AFC.

The Pick

I do like the 49ers in this game but I think we need to shorten the length of this bet. With Rodgers missing so much time last season, it is reasonable to assume that he will be a little rusty. Rodgers did not play in preseason. While there are concerns about the 49ers continuity, the Jets continuity should be even worse. The best way to approach this game is to bet on the San Francisco 49ers first half.

Best Bet: 49ers 1H -3 (-110)
