How to Live Bet the NBA in 2024

Looking to get in on live betting in 2024? Here is the Nuke the House live betting guide for both beginners and traditional bettors. If you missed the first part of our live betting tutorial, make sure to check out our How to Live Bet introduction.

What is NBA live betting?

Live betting is also known as in-game betting. It allows you to place bets while the games and contests are advancing in real-time during NBA games. This in turn allows you to feel out a game and make adjustments to your in-game betting portfolio.

With constantly fluctuating odds, you can take advantage of softer spots in betting markets and make more informed decisions for your NBA live bets.

Live betting the NBA allows the bettor to spot opportunities as they arise in-game, often allowing you to get better numbers than were offered pregame.

You can also take advantage of in-game injuries and many other opportunities that would not be available before a game starts.

NBA Live Betting Strategies

Nuke The House’s NBA live-betting handicapper, Sean Fox has some tips to help you win money during NBA games. Here’s how to live bet the NBA!

  1. Watch Nuke The House | Sports Betting live streams or just have a device with notifications by you.
  2. Always make sure you are watching the game and/or our live NBA show. Don’t just follow the game on an app.
  3. Go in with a Plan: For example, if you notice that a bench player will get more minutes because of an injury, you may be able to get better value on his in-game numbers
  4. Be sure to look through the preflop lines thoroughly. These lines provide you with a solid baseline strategy as you head into the game. Preflop lines are the odds posted before a game starts.
  5. Check the game stats and see if there is an abnormality when betting in the second quarter or second half. Live odds usually start to change from the pregame numbers in the second quarter. Watching a complete half will give you a good baseline to place bets for the remainder of the game.
  6. Dig into the numbers: For example, If one team is shooting a high percentage from the field or from 3, those numbers are likely not going to be sustainable. You might want to look at an under. The same goes for the opposite. When a team gets off to a cold start, you might want to target overs because shooting percentages will likely normalize.
  7. Three-point shooting percentages are a key stat to follow. Shooting percentages typically regress to a team’s average by the end of a game. If you notice one or both teams hitting outlier shooting percentages, consider taking advantage with a live bet.
  8. Know the rotations: Once we get about a month into the NBA season, research when star players typically take their first rest. Keeping track of these patterns can make it easier to time your in-game bets effectively.
  9. Keep an eye on players in foul trouble. This could lead to opportunities to bet the player(s) that will see the floor in his absence.
  10. If you can, place a bet during a stoppage in play. The stream on NBA games can be 45-60 seconds behind actual gameplay.
  11. Get Nuke The House real-time, in-game betting notifications straight to your mobile device. When you sign up at Nuke The House Sports Betting, we have detailed instructions that explains how to receive our bets via live, in-game notifications.
  12. Use as many betting apps as you can. The biggest edge comes from using multiple books in order to get the best odds. At Nuke The House Sports Betting we have a team of experienced bettors who have their eyes on all the games.
  13. Have fun and start with smaller wagers until you get more familiar with live betting the NBA!
