Houston Texans @ Dallas Cowboys Prediction

The Game: Houston Texans @ Dallas Cowboys

The Line: Texans -7

The Total: 41.5

The NFL’s two Texas teams take the field on Monday Night Football. It’s a battle of two franchises going in opposite directions. The Houston Texans are looking to build around their young star quarterback CJ Stroud and have found plenty of success with their new high-powered offense. The Dallas Cowboys are going backwards, and are regretting the massive contract they gave to their injured quarterback Dak Prescott. Can the Texans take advantage of a flailing Cowboys team tonight?

Houston

The Texans come into this game at 6-4 and in first place in the mediocre AFC South. However, the Texans are 1-3 in their last four games and are losing momentum as the season continues.

Houston will have elite wide receiver Nico Collins back in the lineup. This will be important as CJ Stroud has not looked to be nearly the same player without Collins on the field.

Dallas

The Cowboys are an incompetent mess at 3-6 and it all starts at the top. The worst thing you can do in the NFL is pay an average player elite money and the Cowboys made that mistake with quarterback Dak Prescott.

Now Prescott is on the sidelines, and the Cowboys have sacrificed depth in order to pay him the big bucks. This has become evident as the team looks to be one of the worst in the league without their quarterback on the field.

The Cowboys defense is taking a big hit under new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. It’s sad in the NFL but sometimes some of these great coaches have the game pass them by. Although the Cowboys don’t have that much talent, they should look better than they have this season. Maybe Zimmer has passed his prime and it would not be unlikely to see this team have a whole new coaching staff next season.

Dallas Cowboys Secondary vs Houston Texans Wide Receivers

The Texans need to build some momentum, especially through the air. CJ Stroud has been dismal during the last four games. He needs Collins back in the lineup to make him look like the star the Texans hope that they had found during his elite rookie season last year.

The Texans are hoping Collins can cure much of what ails this offense. If the Texans’ wide receivers are getting open, this will be a rout. If the Cowboys are able to slow down the Texans high-powered offensive attack, we could be in for a close game.

The Pick

There’s no way I’m taking this floundering Dallas Cowboys franchise right now. They could be potentially tanking to try and draft quarterback Shedeur Sanders, as is the rumor in the league. While I’m not sure how that would work with Dak’s contract, I think it’s obvious the team made a mistake giving so much money to a mediocre player.

The Cowboys playoff chances look to be over, and the Texans will put the final nail in the coffin tonight. Take the Houston Texans. Lay the points.
