Lions vs 49ers: Monday Night Football Prediction

Monday Night Football

Detroit Lions vs San Francisco 49ers

We have a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship game for the last Monday Night Football game of the season. The Detroit Lions will take on the San Francisco 49ers. Eleven months ago, the 49ers defeated the Lions to make the Super Bowl. Now the 49ers playoff chances are over while the Lions are in first place in the NFC. Can the Lions get their final measure of revenge?

Detroit Lions

The Lions were the favorite to make the Super Bowl in the NFC until the rash of injuries to key players hurt their team. Despite it all, the Lions keep on chugging along and still have a strong chance to make the Super Bowl. To do so, they’re going to have to get some younger inexperienced players up to speed. Tonight’s game against the 49ers is an excellent opportunity for them to do just that.

The Lions will look to take advantage of this opportunity against the 49ers through their high-scoring offense. Lions QB Jared Goff has been right below MVP caliber this season. Furthermore, even without RB David Montgomery (who was out due to injury), the Lions have a high-powered running game with RB Jahmyr Gibbs leading the attack. The Lions will look to put on a show, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

San Francisco 49ers

After a tumultuous offseason in which key players had contract holdouts, San Francisco appears to have finally had their long string of success catch up to them. Between injuries and players getting older, the Niners are no longer the fearsome unit they once were. They’re missing their two top-skill players on offense from last season. Deebo Samuel appears to have regressed this year. The 49ers have also suffered multiple injuries on defense and are only 6-9 this season. The 49ers have been eliminated from the playoffs.

Lions VS 49ers: The Bet

Normally we don’t like to lay points on the road in prime time. However, in this case with the revenge factor I expect the Detroit Lions to put on a show. Lions head coach Dan Campbell has not been one for resting players. He’ll continue to put his foot on the pedal even with a big lead. The San Francisco 49ers disappointing season will continue when the Lions blow them out in prime time. Take the Detroit Lions -3.5.

Best Bet: Detroit Lions -3.5 (-110)
