NBA Cup
The NBA Cup has done a great job of instilling some excitement into a dreary NBA regular season. Although one might take issue with the gaudy courts, the Cup games have meaning and make what can be a monotonous grind a lot more interesting. Too bad the NBA media did not get the memo.
After the Houston Rockets got a great win over the Golden State Warriors, once again, the Inside the NBA team spent their post game show making jokes about the Houston franchise. This is once again emblematic of why most of the NBA fans think the regular season is a joke. The NBA’s top show is consistently making fun of up and coming teams they should be celebrating.
This weekend will be fun with the games being played on neutral courts. We always talk about how we would cap a game on a neutral court and now we get to see how these things play out. The in Las Vegas game is in Vegas and that gives us an extra factor. The factor of who will party and who will take the game seriously. Overall it’s a fun event and definitely a challenge to handicap.
NFL Contenders
When the Detroit Lions suffered all the injuries to their defense on Thanksgiving I moved the Eagles to first place in my power rankings in the NFC. Then the Lions beat the Packers and left with a quality win, even with the depleted defense. Now I hear that the Eagles two top offensive players don’t like each other??!! Should we be concerned about these Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown rumors? I’m not sure what to make of it, but if it is true, it could dampen a promising season for the Philadelphia Eagles.
My Favorite “This Week in Sports Betting” Bet for the Week
I like the Detroit Lions to get it done at home against the Buffalo Bills. I know this should be a bounce back spot for Buffalo but their biggest weakness is their run defense. The Lions have the most capable rushing attack in the NFL. They have the best offensive line and two solid running backs. Buffalo will once again be victim to the run game and Detroit will show why they are the class of the NFC. Lay the points with the Lions.
