Sports Betting Play of the Day Breakdown for Badgers at Wildcats NCAA GAME
The Wisconsin Badgers travel to Evanston, IL to take on the Northwestern Wildcats. Wisconsin is 4-2 on the season with their only two losses coming to Alabama and USC.
As the weather cools, the Badgers patented rushing attack is beginning to heat up. In years past, the Badgers had a signature bell cow back. However, in 2024 they’ve relied on several rushers to step up.
Two weeks ago vs Purdue, Wisconsin used five different running backs to tally 228 rushing yards at 5.6 per tote. In addition, they traveled to Rutgers and pounded out 309 rush yards last week, while Senior Tawee Walker busted loose for 198 yards on 24 carries with three TD’s.
Badgers True Strength
The true driving force of this rush attack is the ever-present Wisconsin offensive line. This unit has been a regular finalist for the prestigious Joe Moore Award, given annually to the best offensive line unit in college football. Additionally, they brought back four of five starters and are starting to find their footing as a group.
Wildcat Weakness
The Northwestern (3-3) run defense has been playing well statistically (ranked 13th nationally giving up 97 yards per game). However, their numbers were helped by an anemic Maryland rushing game that put up only 59 yards last week.
In week one they faced Miami Ohio who only put up 40 yards on 24 attempts. In week three they faced FCS Eastern Illinois, who tallied 40 rushing yards on 20 attempts.
All things considered, it’s not just about stats, it’s about who those stats were accumulated against. I think that Wisconsin will have a big day on the ground. The Badgers defense should have no issue containing a Northwestern offense that’s averaged only 270.4 yards per game this season.
