The Game: New Orleans Saints vs Kansas City Chiefs Monday Night Football Free Pick

The Line: Chiefs -5.5

The Total: 43

The Chiefs put their undefeated record on the line when they host the Saints on Monday Night Football. After starting hot, the Saints have come back to earth with two losses in a row. Can the Saints bounce back or will the Chiefs be victorious once again?

New Orleans Saints

New Orleans has one of the best defenses in football. They’ve only given up four touchdowns in their first four games. Unfortunately, this excellent defensive effort has only led to a 2-2 record. After starting hot, the Saints offense has returned to mediocrity. The Saints are going to need to get RB Alvin Kamara going if they’re going to want to get back on the winning track.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City offense hit some snags with the injury bug plaguing the team. First, they lost WR Hollywood Brown. But the tougher loss was that of WR Rashee Rice. Rice had become Patrick Mahomes’ go-to receiver on the big third down plays. Now the Chefs must become reliant on Travis Kelce once again. The age of Kelce is showing, and I don’t know if he can be the workhorse that he once was.

Key Matchup

For the Saints to be able to cover this game, they are going to need to run the ball. After an excellent start, Alvin Kamara is battling rib fractures and a hip injury and the Saints offense has slowed down. The Saints also lost their starting center in Week 3 and since then, the run blocking has not been as effective. The Saints are going to have to rediscover their roots; establish the run, and keep QB Derek Carr from throwing too many times to win this game.

The Monday Night Football Free Pick

Although I do like the under in this game I’m going to go ahead and take the points with the Saints. One of my concerns for this game is the Saints being outdoors. However, with the Chiefs offense taking so many hits due to injuries, I don’t know if they can win by margin. The Saints defense has played very well and a low-scoring game will make the 5.5 points more valuable. Although it’s a tough bet to place when you take Derek Carr over Patrick Mahomes, I’m going to take the points with the New Orleans Saints.
