Thursday Night Football Expert Betting Tips

By JC Zargo (@daddyzargs)

The Dallas Cowboys will attempt to turn their season around as they head north to play the New York Giants for this week’s Thursday Night Football game. Here are our expert betting tips:

Cowboys Show Fight

Despite losing to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3, the Cowboys may have resurrected their season in the fourth quarter of that game. Dallas scored 19 unanswered points in the fourth to fall to the Ravens 25 – 28. While an actual victory would have been better, the moral victory may have been enough to rejuvenate this team.

New York Not So Bad?

The Giants will try to find the ceiling on their season. It turns out the Vikings are a force this season, so that Week 1 loss is not as embarrassing as it first appeared. The Commanders should win the divisions, so only losing that game because they were missing a kicker is nothing to be ashamed of. Having taken care of the Browns, and tasting a win, the Giants should be hungry for more.

The Spread

This line needs a U-Haul for all the moving it’s doing. Dallas opened as a (5.5) favorite, but that number quickly fell to (4.5), and has now traveled all the way up to (6). While faith may have been restored in the Cowboys to the casual fan, sharp bettors know they need to keep an eye on the dogs this season.

Underdogs are hungry in 2024 and they’ve been given a long leash. Dogs of (5.5) points or more are 13-2 against the spread this season with nine of those thirteen teams winning outright.

However, history is on the Cowboys side, as they have won 13 of their last 14 against the Giants, including the last six in a row. New York hasn’t fared much better at the spread, posting an ATS record of 1-5 against Dallas in their last six meetings.

What all that tells us, is this won’t be a game where bettors are sweating. Dallas will either blow them out as they always do, or the Giants will take it outright. Since there is no clear play on the spread, bettors should take a gamble on the big money.

Expert Betting Tips: Favorite Props

Similar to last week’s Thursday Night game, the underdog could be a terrible pick. However, this prop plays whether it’s a tight one or if New York is playing catch-up for four quarters.

Daniel Jones is a competent quarterback in a crappy situation, he is not as bad as the data would indicate. He’ll display that once again tonight when he passes for over 200 yards.

Daniel Jones 200+ Passing Yards (-105)

You don’t need to watch the tape to know the Cowboys can’t stop the run; they’ve allowed 557 rushing yards to opponents this season — more than any other team. So the Giants will rely heavily on Devin Singletary in this one. He’s a preferred target of Daniel Jones, but he should also see more than a few touches. Bettors can expect a monster game from Singletary.

1.2 Units – Devin Singletary Over 2.5 Receptions (-120)

1.1 Unit – Devin Singletary Over 80.5 Rushing and Receiving Yards (-110)
